I designed a poster for the Museum of Contemporary Art’s poster contest, “The Freedom Principle” in which I was a finalist. The poster contest coincided with the exhibition, “The Freedom Principle: Experiments in Art and Music, 1965 to Now.”
I wanted the trombone to be the defining image of the poster, because the trombone balances the sounds in an orchestra, and is a symbol of strength. It is heavily used in Jazz music and other music during the Civil Rights Era.
